Ostrich eggs for sale
During incubation eggs should be positioned with the large end up, and if possible, at a 45 degree angle. Positioning the eggs on the side is also acceptable. The eggs should be turned at least twice daily (8 to 10 times per days is better) until the thirty-ninth day when the eggs are transferred to the hatcher.
The eggshell becomes translucent and therefore a dark spot inside the egg will indicate an embryo. The ostrich eggshell is porous like your skin which means that if you put a torch against it you can actually see through the egg.
On commercial ostrich farms, egg candling is commonly used during artificial incubation to determine fertility and monitor the progress of the developing embryo.

How long can eggs sit before you put them in the incubator?
Turn the eggs to a new position once daily until placing in the incubator. Hatchability holds reasonably well up to 3 weeks. Therefore, do not store eggs more than 3 weeks before incubating. |
