Temperature For Incubation
As a general rule, most parrot eggs are best incubated between 37.2°C and 37.5°C and at a humidity of approximately 56%.
Teaching your parrot to speak can be a difficult task. Not all species of birds can mimic speech - and not all birds within a species will pick up speech even when trained.
What bird species have the potential to mimic speech?
- African Grey Parrots
- Quaker Parrots
It’s important to remember that while some parrots will mimic speech, others within that same species may not. However, if your bird species does have the potential to learn how to speak, here are a few tips to help you get started on your training.
How to Teach Your Parrot to Talk:
- Build a Strong Relationship - First and foremost, you should have a strong relationship with your pet. Talk to them every day! You want your bird to feel trusting of you and accustomed to your voice.
- Use Repetition - Clearly speak the same word or phrase to your pet over and over again. Repetition is key to getting your pet to mimic speech. Consider using a recording of words that you want your bird to learn.
- Be Consistent - Don’t slack on your training! Your pet will mimic words that he or she hears constantly. Remember to be patient.
- Reward Them - Encourage behavior that mimics speech by rewarding your pet! You want to make sure that your bird is having fun while you are training him or her.
